This project was a collaborative web publication built on individual projects. ‘Mundane Futures: Generation Zoom’ was a result of my experiences with technology during the pandemic. The work commenced just as the first lockdown was beginning, visiting the BT Archive collection in High Holborn was one of the last times the team was able to meet and discuss things in person. We each chose an archive object to use as inspiration for our take on the future of telecommunications. As the pandemic progressed, we quickly realized the relevance of this topic in the current circumstance and looked at telecommunications specifically in the context of isolation. My work was an auto-ethnographically inspired account of the increasing reliances and problematic relationships we have with technology, demonstrated through a series of character/scenario illustrations. The narrative follows a diary-esque captains log depicting different ‘DAY X’ during isolation, as the days progress the character becomes noticeably more irritable.
